PHSS is a non-profit organization that provides unique and flexible supports and services so that people with complex medical, behavioural, physical, and/or developmental needs can live the life they choose as part of the community. As a leader in community inclusion of individuals with developmental, behavioural, medical, and/or complex physical needs, PHSS supports individuals to live in their own homes and participate in community with family and friends.

PHSS is looking for a caring, dependable, and responsive Family Supports supervisor (internal title: Coordinator) to add to our team.

Qualifications:

  • Current G driver's license
  • Must have current First Aid & CPR and Crisis Prevention Training
  • Proven ability to cope with and properly handle emergencies, and knowledge of the emergency system and protocols
  • Must be able to assist persons exiting during an emergency, within the accepted time frame
  • Desire and proven ability to work as an effective team member
  • Strong Communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proven work history and strong work performance
  • Consistent and good attendance record
  • Successful record of following medication procedures
  • A history of effective, responsible, and respectful support work.
  • Ability to support and work with families with various points of view and approaches.
  • Cope with risk behaviour towards you while remaining neutral and professional.
  • Create/follow support strategies and protocols to ensure safety and security
  • Training and/or experience in verbally and physically aggressive behaviour and knowledge of Behaviour Support plans
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to problem-solve through high-stress medical situations
  • Experience working with individuals with high medical needs (colostomy, nutrition tubes, cough assist, suctioning, etc.)
  • Demonstrated flexibility in taking shifts, including weekends that cannot be covered.
  • D.S.W., B.A., and/or related experience.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform maintenance and housekeeping of the home.
  • Filing and paperwork.
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • With senior management and an Executive Lead, oversee the development of a division with unique support services that is driven by families and individuals
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and an ability to inspire and encourage team members
