Position Title: Home Support Worker(s)

The Homemaker will report to and be under direct supervision of the Social Services Manager.

Position Description:

The Homemaker is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of individual homes as assigned by FWFN, maintain an accurate and current inventory log of all supplies and materials and report any necessary repairs and/or maintenance requirements or cleaning equipment. The Homemaker may be assigned other duties as required.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Dispose of all garbage and recyclables in the client's home and ensure the garbage containers and recycle bins are sanitized before being placed in the house.
  • Wash walls, door handles, doors, trim, windows and window coverings.
  • Perform high- and low-dusting of tables, electronics, shelves, baseboards and other surfaces.
  • Ensure the restroom facilities, including the shower, tub, toilet, sink and mirrors are sanitized to the highest standard.
  • Clean light fixtures and change light bulbs/tubes as required.
  • Clean and tidy up all rooms in the client's home, including the bedroom(s), living room, kitchen, restroom, and various other rooms
  • Cook/prepare client meals
  • Monitor and report any maintenance and/or repairs needed for cleaning equipment.
  • Maintain an inventory log of materials and supplies and notify the need for replenishing prior to supplies being depleted.
  • Ensure the highest standard of service and quality.

Qualifications:

  • Secondary School Diploma required.
  • 3-5 years' experience cleaning homes.
  • Annually certified by a physician that they are in good health and physically fit for the duties of homemaking.
  • First Aid skills and/or CPR certification considered an asset.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
  • Exhibit initiative, responsibility, and flexibility.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Excellent time management and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures.
  • Able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • This position will be subject to a Vulnerable Sector Check.
