Introduction

Position Summary
"Namaht" means "my home" in the Wolastoqey language, it is more than a residence; it is a place of belonging, healing, and growth. The Namaht - Support Worker provides meaningful support and mentorship to clients residing at Namath, a live-in, community-based home designed to meet the unique needs of children and youth in a structured and culturally grounded environment. This role supports the emotional, mental, and life-skill development of clients while maintaining a safe, respectful, and empowering setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and culturally responsive environment.
- Build trusting relationships with clients that encourage self-confidence and respectful communication.
- Support daily living skills, personal growth, and community involvement activities.
- Assist in implementing individualized case plans as guided by assigned Social Workers.
- Follow the daily schedule and routines of Namaht with consistency and care.
- Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to information-sharing protocols across all platforms.
- Provide transportation for clients when required.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation as per agency requirements.
- Communicate any client-related concerns or incidents to the Namaht - Manager or on-call staff promptly.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Social Services Community Worker (SSCW) from NBCC is considered an asset; candidates who do not possess the diploma must be willing to enroll in the course.
- Strong knowledge of Wolastoqey/Maliseet culture, teachings, and community values.
- Previous experience working with Indigenous communities and youth is a strong asset.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced, emotionally sensitive environment.
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and documentation systems.
- Must possess a valid New Brunswick Driver's License.
- Clear Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Social Development record Check are required.
- Must successfully pass a drug test before and during employment in accordance with TCFSA's Drug and Alcohol Policy.
