The Court and Justice Services (CJS) Division provides a wide range of resolution and court services for people involved in legal disputes. In collaboration with the courts of Alberta, Court and Justice Services provides various programs and services including educating and helping Albertans finding solutions for legal issues, navigating the court system, offering programs at no cost or a nominal charge, and administrative support to all courts in Alberta. Role Responsibilities

Are you interested in supporting the Resolution Services management team in promoting and ensuring high-quality service delivery across Alberta?

As a Program Advisor, you will play a key role in the ongoing quality improvement processes of the Business and Resolution Services branch. Your responsibilities will include system reporting, service reviews, issue analysis, and program development. You will also support program areas by coordinating digital system maintenance and staff training, and by leading special projects and initiatives that shape practice standards and program direction.

Your key areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, the following:

Program procedures and processes are developed and maintained to support service delivery excellence.

  • Maintenance and/or revision of Resolution Services practices and procedures by ensuring that they reflect new trends, directions and best practices and to incorporate service quality dimensions.
  • Development of program supports - Identify front line worker issues and service gaps and develop processes to meet needs and bridge service gaps; prepare procedures and protocols to deal with new or changing needs. 
  • Provide training to frontline staff.
  • Consultation to frontline staff, supervisors, managers and the community on policy interpretation, service delivery issues and complex cases. 

Service delivery areas are supported to engage in ongoing quality improvement activities.

  • Identify issues and trends that lead to possible changes to standards/practice/policy.
  • Ensure that timely and regular information is provided to the Resolution Services management team.
  • Analyze and make recommendations regarding practice issues and/or systemic issues.
  • Monitor activities to ensure compliance to policy and consistency in application.

Special projects and initiatives are coordinated and successfully completed. 

  • Extensive consultation and liaison with a variety of professionals both within and outside the Ministry and Government.
  • Lead and/or support provincial working groups/committees and co-ordinating and assigning work resulting from working group/committee work.
  • Lead special projects/initiatives that contribute to enhanced quality of services, programs and directions. These may include digital innovation as well as professional assessment and practice development for mediation and court counsellor staff.
  • Represent Resolution Services on various committees.

The Practice Supports Manager is supported in leading the unit to achieve branch and ministry goals.

  • Provide the manager with advice and recommendations regarding the performance of the programs.
  • Work collaboratively with the leadership team and service delivery staff to foster communication and collaboration across programs 
  • Raise awareness to emerging issues that are particularly complex, politically charged, or could have significant program impact.

Qualifications

Required: University graduation in a related field (e.g. Social Work, Social Sciences, Information Technology, etc.) plus 4 years of progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.

Related experience may include:

  • Program development or delivery.
  • Developing and delivering training, including presentations to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Project or change management.
  • Procedure development, program reporting, and staff training.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Assets
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Working knowledge of technology platforms and their implementation in service delivery, including advanced knowledge of design and implementation practices, change management, and coordination of technical development teams.
  • Working knowledge of the dynamics of family violence, child protection, and safety planning and related risk factors in mediation and court settings.
  • Working knowledge of child development, attachment theory and temperament as they relate to separation and divorce.
  • Work experience in creating and updating service delivery processes, along with providing relevant staff training.
  • Working knowledge or experience within the judicial environment, including court operations and procedures.

Position Information:

  • This posting is for one temporary full-time position with a duration of 18 months.
  • Location: Edmonton or Calgary, depending on the successful candidate's place of residence.
  • Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • Some travel between Calgary and Edmonton may be required, depending on operational needs.
