Role Overview

As an Intermediate Systems Administrator – Virtualization, Backup & Recovery Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and supporting customer infrastructure. This multi-disciplinary position requires expertise in VMware virtualization, storage devices, backup and recovery, and Microsoft/cloud administration.

Preference will be given to candidates with current certifications:

  • VCP – VMware Certified Professional
  • VMCE – Veeam Certified Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding customer service and technical support.
  • Manage incidents and problems for hardware and software systems.
  • Maintain ticket hygiene and meet SLA response times.
  • Collaborate across teams for issue resolution and infrastructure scheduling.
  • Execute change management activities, including CAB ticket creation and participation in weekly CAB meetings.
  • Implement changes during scheduled maintenance windows and update tickets promptly.
  • Maintain accurate CMDB records and documentation.
  • Stay current with technologies through training and certifications.
  • Communicate recommendations clearly through presentations and documentation.

Technology Focus

  • Maintain secure and compliant VMware/vSphere/Veeam environments.
  • Design, implement, and monitor backup infrastructure.
  • Ensure daily backup integrity for hybrid environments.
  • Troubleshoot backup issues and ensure SLA compliance.
  • Manage Veeam hardware/software integrations.
  • Monitor system performance and availability.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of VMware/Virtualization and backup administration experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Veeam Backup & Replication and VMware vSphere.
  • Strong understanding of backup and recovery principles.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework.
  • Ability to provide after-hours on-call support (rotation).
  • Willingness to travel to client sites and perform support outside business hours.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with SLAs and ticketing systems.
  • Certifications in Azure Cloud or related technologies.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, networking, and infrastructure.
  • Experience with Linux or other operating systems beyond Windows.
