Estimator

Reports directly to the Estimating Manager. The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and times takeoffs for projects involving Window Wall, Curtain Wall, Cladding, Railings, Metal Panels and other facade systems. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Education

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology and Construction Management; and
• Construction Estimation Certification is an asset.

Years of Experience

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in Estimating within the Construction or Manufacturing industry;
• Experience in facade systems such as Window Wall, Curtain Wall, Railing, and Cladding is considered an asset; and
• Familiarity with Project Management processes and design assist delivery models is considered an asset.

Job Specific Duties

• Set up project files and maintain the folder structure;
• Review RFQs, SOW, Levelling Sheets, Specifications, Estimator Checklists, Infills (glass louvres, metal panels), Wind Reports, Acoustic Reports, Energy Modelling Reports, Thermal Documents/Calculations and any other project documents for scope and pricing accuracy;
• Confirm scope of work (WW/CW/Railings/Cladding, etc.) and clarify inclusions.exclusions and equipment requirements;
• Identify major items for the Estimating Managers review;
• Prepare and manage bid forms, supplier quotes and subcontractor inquiries;
• Review project specifications and drawings to confirm compliance with bid scope;
• Identify required custom details to R&D and prepare pricing to reflect developed details;
• Communicate with the Bid Coordinator and Business Development team to gather any necessary information;
• Maintain up-to-date records, templates, and project specific Estimating files;
• Provide technical input to improve Estimating tools and practices;
• Schedule, coordinate and participate in pre-kickoff, kickoff, pre-closeout, closeout and any other Estimating meetings;
• Complete square footage checks, including breakout scopes and double checks within allowable tolerances;
• Manager the administration regarding change orders and deviations from the original contract; and
• Any other tasks assigned by the Director of Estimating/Estimating Manager
