Title: Executive Director

Reports To: Board of Directors

Location: 25 Centennial Road, Unit 1, Orangeville, Ontario L9W 1R1

Compensation: $80,000 to $95,000 plus benefits package

About the Role

The Executive Director (ED) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight to ensure the organization fulfills its mission and goals. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED leads strategic planning, program delivery, financial management, human resources, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Work with the Board to develop and implement the organization's strategic vision.

  • Advise the Board on organizational issues, trends, and opportunities.

  • Foster strong working relationships between Board, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders.

  • Serve as a spokesperson and represent the organization at community events.

  • Collaborate with affiliated federation partners ASiO

Operations & Planning

  • Develop operational plans aligned with strategic priorities.

  • Oversee daily operations and ensure service excellence.

  • Draft, manage, and review organizational policies and procedures.

  • Ensure secure and confidential record-keeping.

  • Prepare reports, Board materials, and budgets.

Program Management

  • Oversee planning, delivery, and evaluation of programs and services.

  • Ensure programs align with mission, community needs, and Board priorities.

  • Lead special projects and quality improvement initiatives.

Human Resources

  • Determine staffing needs and lead recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.

  • Maintain a healthy, safe work environment.

  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.

  • Recruit and support volunteer Board members.

Financial Management

  • Collaborate with the Board to prepare annual budgets and financial plans.

  • Research funding sources; develop proposals and support fundraising activities.

  • Ensure accurate bookkeeping, reporting, and compliance with audit and legal requirements.

  • Monitor cash flow and provide regular financial updates to the Board.

Community Engagement & Advocacy

  • Build and maintain relationships with funders, government partners, and community organizations.

  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders about organizational initiatives.

  • Represent the organization on committees and community networks (e.g., Hills of Headwaters OHT).

Risk Management

  • Identify and mitigate organizational risks.

  • Ensure appropriate insurance coverage and organizational compliance.

Qualifications

Education

  • Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Health or Social Services, Gerontology, or a related field.

Experience

  • 5+ years in the non-profit sector.

  • 5+ years in a senior management role overseeing staff or volunteers.

  • Experience collaborating with a volunteer Board of Directors.

  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, budgeting, and multi-stakeholder engagement.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong strategic thinking and tactical execution abilities.

  • Knowledge of non-profit governance, program delivery, and financial management.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with financial software is an asset.

  • Understanding of community health or social services environments; OH/MOHLTC experience is an asset.

  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle (required).

Working Conditions

  • Office-based work with occasional evenings and weekends.

  • Travel within the region as needed.
