About Us

Michael House provides shelter and support to pregnant and parenting women and their children in need. Our vision is to empower resilient women to overcome barriers for the betterment of themselves and their children. We offer programs that nurture, empower, and guide women toward independent living in the community.

Position Summary

The Executive Director provides leadership to Michael House, ensuring the agency fulfills its mission and achieves its strategic goals. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director oversees operations, staff, programs, finances, and community relations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and strategic guidance in collaboration with the Board.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, including program delivery, HR, policies, and risk management.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, financial reports, and fundraising strategies.
  • Represent Michael House in the community and with stakeholders.
  • Ensure programs reflect best practices and respond to client needs.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Business, Social Services, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive management experience, preferably in a Not-for-Profit setting.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation applicable to a Not-for-Profit organization including: employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, charities, taxation, employer taxes.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (employment, human rights, OHS, charitable regulations).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
