Located in beautiful Belle River, Ontario, this brand-new Residence, opening in 2026, will offer 96 single occupancy rooms with ensuite, and 64 shared rooms, each designed for comfort and dignity. Scope of the Role:

The Administrative/Nursing Assistant reports to the Director of Care and is responsible for assisting with all the day-to-day facility-wide and nursing administrative functions. Also responsible for developing, defining, implementing, and supporting information technology strategic solutions in the Home in conjunction with Information Technology Solutions Providers.

Responsibilities:

  • Completes and maintains scheduling and payroll for all nursing personnel.
  • Assists in the production and distribution of nursing department communications under the direction of the Director of Care.
  • Ensures compliance with CARF Canada and long-term care standards
  • Assists with staffing variance reports and annual IT-related budgeting
  • Maintains appropriate staffing levels and efficient use of resources
  • Supports recruitment, orientation, and retention
  • Applies knowledge of relevant legislation and collective agreements
  • Uses strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and team-building skills
  • Helps set organizational technology objectives
  • Promotes a positive, team-focused work environment
  • Participates in management and leadership meetings
  • Prepares reports and documentation for the Executive Director and Director of Care
  • Oversees information systems operations and coordinates IT service contracts
  • Educates staff on Ministry standards, quality improvement, and new policies
  • Monitors HR performance indicators and nursing absenteeism
  • Understands and works to improve quality indicators, including publicly reported ones
  • Ensures documentation systems meet quality and compliance standards
  • Tracks IT performance indicators and supports continuous improvement
  • Other duties as assigned and or as indicated in the Job Task Inventory.

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or G.E.D. with courses in typing and mathematics. A nursing background is an asset.
  • Working knowledge and high comfort level to use computer hardware and software programs.
  • Sense of responsibility, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft NT, Microsoft Office
  • Experience with IT support and troubleshooting.
  • Long Term Care background is an asset.
  • Analytical, problem solving and strong decision-making skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Possess cultural sensitivity and awareness.

Compliance & Health Requirements:

  • A current Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check)
  • completed within the past six months, or willingness to obtain one.
  • TB test results dated within the last six months, or within 14 days of hire; alternatively, a chest X-ray completed within the last year, in accordance with Public Health guidelines.
  • Proof of all required vaccinations must be provided. Staying "up to date" with recommended vaccines is strongly encouraged. Requirements are subject to change based on Employer directives.
