Company Overview:
Sealweld Industrial Materials Canada (Sealweld Canada) is a provider of high quality, cost-effective valve lubricants primarily to the oil and gas storage, pipeline and gas distribution markets. We manufacture and distribute industrial sealants and lubricants, as well as related products, such as lubrication equipment and fittings. We serve the global valve maintenance market with value-added specialty products that enable optimal valve operation and help prevent costly, unscheduled downtime at customer facilities and pipelines. In addition, our products provide important safety benefits along with preventing fugitive valve emissions.
About the Role
The Sr. Field Service Technician plays a critical role in supporting Sealweld Canada's valve maintenance solutions across oil and gas storage, pipeline, and gas distribution facilities. This position provides advanced on-site technical expertise related to the application, performance, and maintenance of Sealweld's industrial valve lubricants, sealants, and associated lubrication equipment. The role focuses on ensuring optimal valve operation, extending asset life, and reducing unplanned downtime while maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance.
As a senior-level position, this role operates with a high degree of independence and technical authority. The technician supports customers through field service, technical consultation, and training; contributes field insight to product improvement and R&D initiatives; mentors technicians as required; and represents Sealweld with professionalism, technical depth, strong problem-solving abilities, and a strong safety mindset—delivering solutions that improve valve reliability, prevent fugitive emissions, and support safe, efficient pipeline and facility operations. Extensive domestic travel is required, often to remote or industrial locations, with occasional international travel.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform advanced field service work including valve maintenance, lubrication, sealing, critical isolation, troubleshooting, repair, and servicing of valves, actuators, pumps, and related equipment using Sealweld products and approved application techniques.
- Serve as a senior technical resource for customers and internal teams, providing technical consultation and support for complex or specialty applications.
- Work under minimal supervision and protect Sealweld proprietary procedures.
- Provide technical oversight of subcontractors performing field services to ensure work quality, safety, and compliance with Sealweld standards and customer requirements.
- Conduct inspections related to valve servicing and actuator maintenance, repair, and rebuilds, and provide clear, technically sound recommendations to improve valve reliability and performance.
- Provide startup, operating, and maintenance support and training for customer equipment, products, and procedures, including interpretation of drawings, schematics, and site layouts.
- Communicate directly with customers to coordinate service work, ensuring clear alignment on scope, expectations, and deliverables.
- Support Sales and Account Teams by providing technical expertise that strengthens customer relationships and solution delivery.
- Ensure all work is performed in strict compliance with company safety procedures, regulatory requirements, and customer site-specific standards.
- Complete all required service, billing, and safety documentation accurately and on time.
- Train and mentor technicians on safe field practices, equipment operation, and customer interaction.
