Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Cantonese/Mandarin Speaking Home Support Worker to provide high-quality care and assistance to clients in their homes and community settings. This role is vital in supporting individuals with diverse needs, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring specialized care such as dementia or Alzheimer's care. Fluency in Cantonese and Mandarin is essential to effectively communicate and build trust with clients from diverse backgrounds. The ideal candidate will have experience in home health, assisted living, or long-term care environments, along with a strong commitment to patient safety and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
  • Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans
  • Support patients with memory care needs, dementia, Alzheimer's, or other cognitive impairments
  • Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements and assist with meal planning
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment
  • Utilize patient observation skills to monitor health status and report any concerns promptly
  • Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely and effectively
  • Document patient care activities accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations
  • Assist with transportation to medical appointments or community activities as needed
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalized care plans
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, fostering a respectful and caring environment

Requirements

  • Fluency in Cantonese and Mandarin (spoken and written) is required
  • Prior experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, hospice care, or working with people with developmental disabilities or autism preferred
  • Knowledge of patient monitoring, vital signs measurement, medication administration, and dementia/Alzheimer's/dementia care techniques
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is highly desirable
  • Experience working with residents requiring memory care or long-term support preferred
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and assist with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts
  • Strong observational skills for patient safety and health monitoring
  • Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills in both Cantonese and Mandarin
  • Ability to work independently while following established care plans and protocols
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality
