The Catering Floor Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the flawless execution of catering events at Rogers Centre, from set-up through service and closing, by leading and supporting the Catering Service Worker team. This is a supervisory role that provides direction and oversight to bargaining unit staff and does not perform bargaining unit work, except for instruction/management training, unexpected legitimate and immediate needs, emergencies, or when regular employees are not available, as permitted under the applicable collective agreement. The role ensures that event setups, service delivery, and breakdowns meet Legends standards for guest service, food and beverage presentation, and safety.

The RoleDuties & Responsibilities- Supervise Catering Service Workers during set-up, service, and teardown of assigned catering events, providing clear direction and monitoring performance without regularly performing bargaining unit tasks.
- Oversee event set-up to ensure catering spaces are prepared according to BEOs and event specifications, including layouts, equipment, smallwares, and presentation standards.
- Monitor service throughout events to ensure a high level of customer service, timely delivery of food and beverage, and adherence to timelines and changing event conditions.
- Oversee completion of opening and closing inventory counts by staff, review consumption reports, and escalate discrepancies to management as required.
- Ensure staff restock, replenish, and secure all catering areas, including food, beverage, equipment, and smallwares, at appropriate points during and after events.
- Verify that all equipment and smallwares used for catering events are in good working order, and coordinate with Culinary and Warehouse teams to resolve deficiencies.
- Coordinate with the Production Kitchen and Warehouse teams to ensure accurate and timely transport of food and beverage from the kitchen to designated event spaces.
- Ensure the terms of catering contracts and event orders are executed by staff, including service levels, timing, and any special requirements or upgrades.
- Provide on-the-floor coaching and feedback to Catering Service Workers on guest service, product knowledge, responsible alcohol service, and safe food handling.
- Respond to guest inquiries, special requests, and complaints in a professional and solution-focused manner, escalating complex issues to the Catering or Premium leadership team.
- Ensure staff follow all Legends, Rogers Centre, and regulatory policies related to food safety, responsible alcohol service, health and safety, and workplace conduct.
- Support scheduling, deployment, and real-time adjustments of Catering Service Workers based on event needs, guest counts, and service requirements.
- Contribute to post-event debriefs by sharing guest feedback and operational observations, and support continuous improvement of catering service and offerings.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct, motivate, and support catering service teams in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to uphold and model premium service standards for diverse guest groups.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events, rooms, or service areas simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with staff, management, and guests.
- Ability to anticipate and respond to customer and event needs, adjusting staffing focus and priorities as required.
- Working knowledge of safe food handling practices and responsible alcohol service requirements.
- Prior experience in catering, banquets, or a similar hospitality operation; previous supervisory or lead experience is an asset.
- Smart Serve certification required and minimum legal serving age as required in Ontario.
- Knowledge of safe food handling policies; Food Handler certification is an asset.
- Proven ability to work both independently and within a team setting in a high-energy environment.
- General knowledge of food and beverage products typically used in catering settings.
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the event schedule.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time while supervising multiple catering spaces and service areas.
- Light to moderate lifting associated with supervisory duties (e.g., documents, small items), with Catering Service Workers performing the primary physical set-up and service tasks except where the collective agreement permits management involvement (e.g., training or emergencies).
- Frequent bending, reaching, seeing, hearing, speaking, and walking in event environments to monitor service and interact with staff and guests.
