We are seeking part-time student Dog Handlers/ Kennel Assistants to join our team You will be responsible for the overall care and well-being of the animals at our facility, along with their exercise, training, feeding and general facility cleaning.

Weekday shifts are from 4 pm to close. Weekend shifts can be 7 am to 3 pm or 1 pm to close. WEEKEND AVAILABILITY IS REQUIRED.

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK SHIFTS OVER THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS (DECEMBER 20TH TO JANUARY 1ST).

All staff members must have a reliable method of transportation as public transit is not available in our area.

Responsibilities:

  • Exercising the dogs both mentally and physically, including structured daily walks, group/pack activities, treadmill sessions, basic grooming, obedience, and individual attention.

  • Confidently walking dogs on leash using a variety of training tools.

  • Supervising dogs using a variety of training tools.

  • Feeding and administering oral and topical medications as per owner instructions.

  • Maintaining client relations through detailed and friendly check ins/outs.

  • Documentation of daily staff notes and client charts.

  • Taking daily pictures of the dogs and uploading them to our private staff page.

  • Cleaning of the facilities, kennel units and exercise areas.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 16 or over

  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle

  • Previous experience in animal care is an asset

  • Passion for animal care and a desire to learn new dog care and training skills

  • Ability to confidently supervise dogs of all breeds, temperaments, ages and sizes

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

  • Ability to perform all job duties to a high standard in a safe and responsible manner

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to be on one's feet and walking for several hours in a day

  • Ability to lift dogs and items of up to 50 lbs
