Kennel Assistant

We are seeking part-time Dog Handlers/Kennel Attendants to join our team You will be responsible for the overall care and well-being of the animals at our facility, along with their exercise, training, feeding and general facility cleaning.

We are looking for someone to fill Saturday and Sunday shifts 7 am to 3 pm and 1 pm to close and evening shifts during the week (3 pm or 4 pm to close). There is some flexibility in the schedule, but we are looking for someone that can commit to 2-3 shifts per week.

All staff members must have a reliable method of transportation as public transit is not available in our area.

**Responsibilities**:

- Exercising the dogs both mentally and physically, including structured daily walks, group/pack activities, treadmill sessions, basic grooming, obedience, and individual attention.
- Confidently walking dogs on leash using a variety of training tools.
- Supervising dogs using a variety of training tools.
- Feeding and administering oral and topical medications as per owner instructions.
- Maintaining client relations through detailed and friendly check ins/outs.
- Documentation of daily staff notes and client charts.
- Taking daily pictures of the dogs and uploading them to our private staff page.
- Cleaning of the facilities, kennel units and exercise areas.

Qualifications:

- Previous professional experience in animal care
- Passion for animal care and a desire to learn new dog care and training skills
- Ability to confidently supervise dogs of all breeds, temperaments, ages and sizes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Ability to perform all job duties to a high standard in a safe and responsible manner
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to be on one's feet and walking for several hours in a day
- Ability to lift dogs and items of up to 50 lbs

**Salary**: Commensurate with experience

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $17.20-$18.50 per hour
