Estimator – Co-Packaging

Position Summary
The Estimator is responsible for forecasting project costs and developing accurate, timely quotes for co-packing and value-added service projects. This includes analyzing labour, materials, equipment, and transportation requirements to ensure competitive pricing and profitability. The role also supports internal costing reviews, client bids, and continuous process improvements.
Salary Range: $60,000–$85,000, based on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates for CPG display builds and packaging projects, including labour, material, equipment, and freight
- Review client RFQs, assembly instructions, and project specs to understand the scope of work
- Conduct time studies on standard and custom display builds to establish labour benchmarks
- Collaborate with operations and procurement to validate assumptions and gather inputs
- Build cost models and summarize pricing for client-facing quotes
- Analyze actual vs. estimated costs for continuous improvement
- Assist the sales team with quoting support, revisions, and client presentations as needed
- Create workflow layouts for production planning when required
- Maintain accurate records of assumptions, updates, and version history for each estimate
- Support compliance with internal procedures and quality standards, including food safety, HACCP, and GMP
- Perform other related and sundry duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of contract packaging, manufacturing, or supply chain operations
- Working knowledge of inventory management, vendor relations, and fulfillment workflows
- Analytical thinker with strong attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset
- Proficiency in Excel and estimating software (experience with QuickBooks or ERP systems is an asset)
- Ability to communicate clearly with cross-functional teams and external vendors
- Comfortable working in both office and production floor environments
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in estimating, production planning, or cost analysis (experience in contract packaging or the CPG industry is a strong asset)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based with occasional time on the production floor for project reviews or time studies
