Job Skills / Requirements

What do Pre-Board Screening Officers do? 

You will be using your exceptional customer service skills to uphold the safety of passengers and create a positive travel experience by:

Efficiently screening passengers and baggage through airport security checkpointsConfirming valid boarding passesScanning and testing baggage for prohibited items usings X-ray machines, metal detectors and other technology, along with physical search techniquesProviding information professionally and with integrityProtecting restricted areasManaging conflictCommunicating clearly and effectivelyUpholding all regulations with vigilance

You will receive paid training at $22.33/hour, increasing to $25.34/hour following the successful completion of training and full certification. You'll also receive comprehensive benefits and a great uniform 

What You Bring: 

Excellent customer service skills, preferably in a high-volume environment for a minimum of one (1) yearOpen availability to work any shift as required by the airport operations, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and statutory holidaysStrong English communication skills, both written and verbal; fluency in French is an assetAbility to comply with the CATSA medical requirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent (GED)

This role is fully based at the Nanaimo Airport (YCD).

If you are successful in the application process, you will be required to apply for a Transport Security Clearance (TSC), which requires an extensive background check. Once obtained, you will be eligible to begin the Screening Officer Foundations (SOF) course, which much be successfully passed prior to beginning work as a Pre-Board Screening Officer.
