About IENL & Study and Stay NL

International Education Newfoundland and Labrador (IENL) is a not-for-profit association that brings together stakeholders from education, immigration, and economic development. IENL functions as a collaborative provincial initiative, aligning public and private post-secondary institutions, K–12 schools, industry partners, and government policy. Our goal is to ensure international education drives population growth and workforce development in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Study and Stay NL is IENL's flagship program, designed to help exceptional international students build career skills, entrepreneurial pathways, and community connections that support transition to life and work in the province.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Data Collection

  • Collect and analyze responses from the Alumni Survey.
  • Clean, organize, and categorize data for use in stories, reports, and infographics.
  • Identify key themes, trends, and insights related to alumni career outcomes, community involvement, and provincial retention

Qualitative & Quantitative Analysis

  • Review interview transcripts to extract meaningful quotes, patterns, and emerging themes.
  • Help shape the evidence base for the Alumni Impact Report and social media content.
  • Prepare short briefs summarizing findings for the project team.

Content & Reporting Support

  • Provide data inputs for infographics and visual summaries.
  • Assist the Profile Writer and Project Coordinator by supplying verified facts, metrics, and background context for alumni stories.
  • Contribute to the narrative framework of the Alumni Impact Report by linking data to real-world alumni experiences.

Administrative & Organizational Tasks

  • Maintain accurate research files, coding sheets, and documentation.
  • Support version control and data tracking across spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ensure that all data is handled ethically and in line with project consent protocols.

Qualifications

  • Strong research and analytical skills: qualitative, quantitative, or both.
  • Experience in survey analysis, interview coding, or academic research is an asset (but not required).
  • Ability to identify patterns, translate data into insights, and communicate findings clearly.
  • Keen attention to detail and strong organizational habits.
  • Familiarity with Excel, Google Sheets, survey tools, or basic data visualization platforms.
  • Interest in international student experiences, immigration pathways, or community development is an advantage.
