Job Overview

Unionville College is seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide comprehensive assessment, programming, and consultation services for students with communication delays and disorders. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding organization and human relations skills and will be passionate about presenting on various topics to support the needs of students with communication deficits.

Expected Start Date is January 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct standardized and non-standardized assessments and apply professional judgement to identify and evaluate the oral and written communication skills of students referred by parents and school staff.
  • Develop and Implement strategies and programming to support students with communication delays and disorders, with a focus on early intervention and providing support in kindergarten classes and primary division.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to develop and implement programs and strategies for individual or small group instruction
  • Promote parent engagement by facilitating discussions and providing resources to help families build their children's oral communication and written language skills.
  • Prepare and maintain clear and thorough written documentation, including descriptions of assessment results, communication programs and progress notes.
  • The caseload includes a mix of preschool and school-age children. The primary needs are in early intervention, expressive language, and speech sound disorders (phonology, articulation, and motor speech). There are also occasional cases related to fluency.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from and accredited program.
  • Active and in-good-standing registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologist of Ontario (CASLPO).
  • Clinical experience with a diverse caseload of both preschool and school-age children.
  • Experience in early intervention, expressive language, and speech sound disorders is essential.
  • Experience with specific disorder areas like phonology, articulation, and motor speech, and fluency is highly valued.
  • Proficient in conducting standardized and non-standardized assessments to evaluate communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective programs and strategies for individual and small-group therapy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for creating clear documentation and presentation.
  • High ability to apply professional judgement in assessment and program development.
