The Opportunity

Beam Radiology is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our growing clinical team. This role plays a critical part in delivering professional, compassionate, and patient-centered care across our diagnostic imaging and interventional services.

The successful candidate will work closely with radiologists, nurses, technologists, and administrative teams, serving as a key liaison between patients and physicians to ensure a safe, informed, and supportive care experience.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Support

  • Act as a direct liaison between patients and physicians to answer questions and facilitate treatment plans outlined by the Radiologist
  • Provide professional, compassionate, and patient-focused care throughout all stages of the patient journey
  • Anticipate and address patient anxieties while maintaining a calm, reassuring presence
  • Obtain patient histories and educate patients on procedures, expectations, and aftercare
  • Review procedures for appropriateness and patient eligibility
  • Deliver pre-procedural and post-procedural care, including patient education and comfort measures

Clinical Duties

  • Monitor patient progress and vital signs pre- and post-procedure
  • Assist in the administration of medication and observe, document, and report therapeutic effects
  • Perform nursing interventions, including taking vital signs, applying aseptic techniques, sterile dressing changes, and infection control practices
  • Operate medical equipment in accordance with clinical protocols and safety standards

Professional Practice & Collaboration

  • Maintain professionalism and standards of practice in all aspects of patient care
  • Demonstrate strong ability to interpret verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, technologists, and other healthcare professionals
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment
  • Be fully knowledgeable of Beam Radiology procedures, policies, and standards

Privacy & Ethics

  • Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information at all times
  • Always act in a manner that ensures patient dignity, safety, privacy, and confidentiality

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Completion of a recognized Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program
  • Active registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
  • Active BLS certification
  • Superior intravenous (IV) skills (minimal training provided)
  • Phlebotomy certification or willingness to complete a venipuncture course within three (3) months of start date
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel between Beam Radiology clinical sites across Calgary

Preferred / Assets

  • Experience in Pain Management, Orthopedics, or Diagnostic Imaging
  • Exceptional understanding of the musculoskeletal system, including kinetics and dermatomal patterns
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous, self-directed learning
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, and internet-based systems

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Day shifts preferred; flexibility for evenings and/or weekends as required
  • 8-hour shifts
  • In-person role at Beam Radiology clinics
  • Must be able to reliably commute or relocate to Calgary, AB prior to start date
