Role Description

We are growing and looking to add a Staff Accountant to our team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a range of accounting functions, including bookkeeping, financial statement and year-end preparation, payroll processing, and tax planning. This role reports directly to the Manager and Partners and offers an opportunity to develop your technical accounting skills while working closely with a supportive, professional team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bookkeeping and general accounting duties for a variety of clients
  • Prepare financial statements, working papers, and year-end files
  • Assist with tax preparation, filings, and some tax planning and advisory engagements
  • Support review engagements and trust audits
  • Assist in setting up new client files and maintaining existing records
  • Summarize financial information and prepare reports for management review
  • Identify and investigate discrepancies in financial data and recommend corrections
  • Develop strong working relationships with clients and internal team members
  • Contribute to process improvements and efficiency within the accounting team

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation, working towards CPA, or open to working towards CPA is an asset
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience (preferably in public practice)
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Experience with accounting and tax software (e.g., QuickBooks, TaxCycle)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other productivity tools
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and client service skills

Compensation

$48,000 – $54,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
