Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Yard Hand to join our team. This role is essential for maintaining the overall safety, organization, and functionality of our yard and outdoor operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience with equipment operation, snow removal, and general yard work. As a Yard Hand, you will support daily operations to ensure efficiency and safety across all tasks and seasons.

Duties

  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery safely and effectively.
  • Participate in snow removal operations, including snow plowing, shoveling, and de-icing to maintain clear and accessible areas during winter months.
  • Move and position trailers and towable equipment as required, following proper safety procedures.
  • Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, skid steers, loaders, and other equipment for various yard and construction-related tasks.
  • Perform general yard duties such as organizing materials, site cleanup, and equipment handling.
  • Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance on tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and according to specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in yard work, construction, or equipment operation is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical skills with the ability to operate and maintain various equipment including excavators, skid steers, and trailers.
  • Experience with snow removal, including operating snow plows and working in winter conditions.
  • Ability to safely maneuver, hook up, and transport trailers or towable equipment.
  • Familiarity with general outdoor maintenance practices, tools, and safety procedures.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including cold and snow.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety, and quality workmanship.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team setting.
  • A valid driver's license is required; trailer endorsement or towing experience is an asset.
  • Additional certifications or licensing (e.g., heavy equipment operator tickets, WHMIS, first aid) are considered strong assets.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
