About Us:

Vancouver Island Tree Service Ltd. is a rapidly growing utility and residential vegetation management company operating in BC, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. We operate a large fleet of commercial vehicles, bucket trucks, heavy equipment, mulchers, trailers, and forestry machinery supporting major utility contracts.

We are hiring an experienced Fleet Manager to lead and develop our fleet operations and support our expanding project base.

The Role:

The Fleet Manager oversees company trucks, trailers, and arborist equipment to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance. You'll coordinate maintenance, manage records, and support operations across multiple job sites.

Key Duties:

  • Manage daily operations of company vehicles, bucket trucks, trailers, and heavy forestry equipment.
  • Plan and schedule preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and certifications.
  • Ensure compliance with CVSE, NSC, ICBC, DOT, and WorkSafeBC.
  • Track fleet performance using telematics / maintenance logs.
  • Build and maintain vendor & dealership relationships.
  • Negotiate service rates, warranty claims, insurance repairs, and credit accounts.
  • Support equipment purchasing, leasing, and lifecycle planning.
  • Coordinate equipment movement and logistics across provinces.
  • Monitor fleet expenses, maintenance budgets, and utilization metrics.

What We're Looking For:

  • 3–5+ years of fleet or equipment management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle regulations.
  • Experience working with heavy equipment, diesel, hydraulic, or forestry machinery.
  • Skilled in vendor negotiation & cost management.
  • Organized, proactive, and able to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence (Class 1 or 3 an asset).
  • Experience with Samsara or fleet tracking systems preferred.
