Job Summary

The home and auto insurance Broker is responsible for identifying and addressing the insurance needs of individual and business clients by providing tailored coverage solutions. This role involves researching and comparing policy options, negotiating favorable terms with insurers, and ensuring clients receive the most suitable protection. The Sales Broker also guides clients through the application and claims processes while maintaining strong relationships to support long-term risk management needs. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of insurance products, market trends, and regulatory requirements, as well as a proactive approach to client acquisition and retention.

Key Responsibilities

Regular Duties

· Develop and maintain a strong portfolio of clients by proactively generating leads, leveraging referrals, and building long-term relationships to support business growth.

· Conduct in-depth consultations with clients to assess their insurance needs and recommend suitable personal or commercial coverage solutions aligned with their risk profiles.

· Research, compare, and analyze policy options across multiple insurers to ensure clients receive competitive and comprehensive coverage that meets their unique requirements.

· Assess various insurers to secure the best possible policies for clients while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company guidelines.

· Guide clients through the policy application process, ensuring accuracy in documentation and adherence to underwriting requirements.

· Provide ongoing client support by assisting with policy renewals, modifications, and inquiries to enhance client satisfaction and retention.

· Educate clients on policy coverage, exclusions, and responsibilities to ensure they have a clear understanding of their insurance protection.

· Utilize policy management and CRM systems to document client interactions, track sales activity, and manage business development efforts effectively.

· Adhere to all regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and company policies to maintain trust and uphold professional integrity in all transactions.

· Collaborate with Account Managers and Underwriters as needed to ensure seamless service delivery and optimal coverage solutions for clients.

· Develop and execute sales strategies that align with company objectives and contribute to revenue growth and business performance.

· Act as a trusted advisor by continuously evaluating clients' evolving needs and offering proactive risk management recommendations.

· Foster a culture of innovation and service excellence by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, improving client experience, and leverage digital tools effectively.

Periodic Duties

· Attend networking events, industry conferences, and client meetings, both in-person and virtually, to expand professional connections and identify new business opportunities.

· Support clients through the claims process by liaising with insurers, providing guidance, and advocating on their behalf to achieve fair and timely resolutions.

· Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions to provide expert guidance and maintain a competitive edge in insurance sales.

Qualifications

Required

· An active and current insurance broker license for the relevant provincial regulatory body (E.g., RIBO)

· A high school diploma or equivalent

· A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a sales-focused insurance brokerage role, preferably in both Personal and Commercial Lines.

· Experience in lead generation, business development, or client acquisition in the insurance industry.

· Strong understanding of insurance products, underwriting principles, and regulatory compliance.

· Proficiency in using policy management and CRM systems to manage client interactions and track business development efforts.

Asset

· A university degree in a related field, or a college diploma in Insurance from a Canadian post-secondary institution, or equivalent

· Market Awareness (Competent): Understanding of market trends, insurer offerings, and competitive landscape to provide informed recommendations.

Working Conditions

· Works primarily in a standard office setting with a typical climate-controlled environment. The role requires periods of sitting, computer use, and participation in meetings or collaborative sessions. Noise levels are generally low, and the position involves minimal physical exertion. Travel may be required to meet with clients, attend industry events, or engage with insurers. Client interactions may also take place remotely through phone, email, and virtual meetings.

Pay: $1,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
