Role description:

Arcadis is hiring a Business Unit Director (BUD), Canada East and India for the Architecture and Urbanism (A&U) division of the Global Business Area Places. The BUD reports to Business Area Director, A&U.

The BUD plays a critical role in driving the success of their BU and contributing to the broader division and organizational goals.  By effectively managing operations, finances, and teams, they ensure the BU remains competitive, profitable, and aligned with the strategic growth visions

Role accountabilities:

Strategic Leadership:

• Develop and implement the BU vision, mission, and strategic plan in alignment with A&U and Arcadis overarching goals
• Identify growth opportunities, in collaboration with GPGD's and Growth, within the market
• Set short-term and long-term objectives for the BU and monitor progress toward achieving them

Operational Oversight:

• Oversee day-to-day operations within the business unit to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards

Financial and Performance Management:

• Manage the business units' budget, ensuring cost control while optimizing profitability
• Monitor financial performance, including revenue, expenses, margins and overall profitability, identify areas of improvement and implement strategies to achieve financial targes
• Monitor and analyze KPI's to assess the business unit's success
• Use data driven insights to make informed decisions and improve overall performance

Client and Stakeholder Management:

• Build and maintain strong relationship with clients, partners, and stakeholders
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality products and services that meet or exceed client expectations, ensuring client success

Business Development:

• Collaborate with Global Practice Group Directors (GPGD) and Growth teams to develop strategies for promoting the business unit and organizational offerings
• Position Arcadis competitively within the market through innovation and differentiation.

Cross Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with other business units, A&U, GBA's and enabling functions to ensure alignment and synergy across the organization. Sharing best practices and resources to optimize overall organizational performance

Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead and inspire BU team, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance
• Ensure recruitment, retention, and development of talent within the BU and across A&U in collaboration with other BUD's
• Provide coaching, mentorship, feedback and performance management for PGM, SM and team members

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree or post-graduate qualification and/or fellowship in an appropriate professional institution, 
• Registered Architect, Landscape Architect,Planner  or equivalent preferred,
• Experience leading the business with accountability for P&L performance and growth in collaboration with other BUD's, Growth and practice group leaders
• Deep expertise in a key service line and sector,
• Substantial experience (20 years or more) in a discipline, including 10+ years' experience in Engineering/Science/Infrastructure consultancy,
• ​Lead the business unit with accountability for P&L performance and growth in collaboration with other BUD's, Growth and practice group leaders
• Together with other Business Unit Directors and Strategic People Business Partner, improve health of the organization and corporate responsibility (e.g., diversity, inclusivity, equity, employee satisfaction, retention)
• Together with the Business Unit Directors, the Global Division Business Area Director and the Growth Director, and GPGD prioritize key client to develop account and growth plans
• Together with the Global Division Business Area Director,  Finance Controller, Legal Director and Division Operations Director:
  • dentify and manage financial and operational risks
  • Monitor and report the financial performance
• Involved in generating and driving innovation, engaging with clients on new business models and revenue streams, working with alliances and ecosystems
• Ability to bring people on a journey to the unknown, creating a sense of stability and security in uncertain times, avoiding change fatigue
• Inspiring high performance from teams, communicating vision and purpose, engaging others and ensuring aligned objectives

The salary range for this position is $$RANGE$$. The base salary represents Arcadis' hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
