Overview
The Director, Critical Care and Cardiology, under the leadership of the Vice President, Clinical Programs and Quality, is accountable for the clinical, technical, educational, human resource, financial, and operational activities associated with the Critical Care and Cardiology Programs at Michael Garron Hospital. This includes oversight of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Telemetry Unit, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and outpatient cardiac services. The Director will workwith the Chief, Acute Care Programs to support Acute Care needs for the organization. The Director is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and compassionate care, advancing excellence in patient experience and outcomes, and fostering collaboration across hospital and system partners to support an integrated and sustainable model of care. These programs provide essential, life-sustaining care to the hospital's sickest and most complex patients.

The Director will work in close partnership with the Medical Directors of Critical Care and Cardiology and interdisciplinary clinical leaders to advance the delivery of high-quality, patient- and family-centered care. This includes enhancing care coordination across inpatient, procedural, post-acute, and ambulatory services, supporting innovation and continuous quality improvement, and leading initiatives to strengthen system integration within the hospital and with community and regional partners.

EDUCATION

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Health Administration, or other relevant discipline required.
  • Current registration with a professional college or association, as applicable.

Qualifications

  • Minimum ten (10) years of progressive management experience in acute care, with significant leadership in Critical Care and/or Cardiology services.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, high-acuity clinical operations in a dynamic hospital environment.
  • Demonstrated success in building high-performing teams and fostering collaboration across disciplines.
  • Experience in quality improvement, data-driven decision-making, and clinical process redesign.
  • Strong financial management skills and experience overseeing operating and capital budgets.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated alignment with the hospital's core values of Compassion, Respect, Integrity, Inclusion and Courage.
  • Good work and attendance record required.
