What will you be doing?
As an Inclusion Coordinator, you will be responsible for the supervision of Inclusion Support Workers and the administration and oversight of our integrated and adapted summer camp programs for campers with disabilities, 4-18 years of age. This position reports to the Recreation Coordinator.Major Job Responsibilities

What will you be responsible for?

  • Coordinating the intake process for inclusion campers; reviewing All About Me forms, meeting with parents in advance of camp (if required) to understand camper's individual support needs

  • Assisting with facilitation of inclusion camp training along with the Recreation Coordinators, and Behaviour Specialists

  • Providing leadership and supervision to Camp Supervisors and Leaders; coaching, developing and ensuring all performance expectations are met

  • Reviewing registration numbers weekly, and scheduling staff accordingly, ensuring appropriate supervision ratios, including the scheduling of inclusion breaks and extended care

  • Providing ongoing communication with parents, answering e-mail and phone inquiries in a timely manner, sending pre-camp welcome email to camp families

  • Supporting Inclusion Support Workers with program adaptations or alternative program options if required, ensuring the inclusion of campers of all abilities and needs

  • Understanding camp policies and procedures and supporting the entire camp team in following the established rules and guidelines governing the safety and conduct of participants

  • Following all established departmental safety standards and practices and Employee Code of Conduct

  • Assist with payroll processes

  • Ordering materials and supplies, while keeping within allotted budget, completing VISA reconciliation within the deadlines as outlined

  • Carrying out HIGH FIVE staff recognition program and staff appreciation activities

  • Visiting camp sites daily and participating in camps to ensure quality program delivery

  • Communicating to the Camp Directors, Behaviour Specialists and Recreation Coordinators all necessary parental/public concerns and all camper accidents and incidents

  • Assisting the Behaviour Specialists with Behaviour Management tracking

  • Assisting with tasks of personal care including changing, toileting and feeding as required

  • Documenting and administering medication to camper(s) as outlined in our medication policy (when required)

  • Supporting our extended care periods (7:30-8:30am & 4:30-5:30pm) as required

  • Performing all other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

What will we need from you?

  • Ability to work a minimum of 9 weeks at 40 hours per week during July & August, at approximately 40 hours per week to a maximum of 44 hours.

  • This position typically works full-day shifts, Monday to Friday, with standard hours of either 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Shift times may vary and can include extended care coverage, as outlined above

  • Participation in all scheduled, paid training sessions — held during evenings and weekends in May and June — is mandatory and a condition of employment

  • Attendance and facilitation at all mandatory, paid bi-weekly staff meetings that occur outside of camp hours

What skills and experience will you bring to the team?

  • Attending or completion of a degree/diploma program in Social Services, Recreation or related discipline

  • Minimum two (2) years' experience working with persons with exceptionalities

  • Minimum two (2) years experience working in a camp environment, with program planning and organizational experience preferred

  • Minimum one (1) year supervisory experience required

  • Knowledge of program adaptations and behaviour modification techniques

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work well independently and in a team environment.

  • Behaviour Management Systems Training (BMS) is required

  • Standard First Aid and CPR C are required

  • HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) required

  • Able to swim and be comfortable with supporting participants in the pool during camp swim

  • Able to perform all activities including but not limited to lifting a minimum of 50 pounds

  • Knowledge of basic ASL and augmentative communication aids an asset

  • Experience working with medically fragile participants an asset

  • Successful candidate(s) will be required to travel between our different camp sites.  Access to transportation to travel between work locations in a timely manner is required

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to attend Behaviour Management Systems training and HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development and as part of the Summer Camp training.  All other certifications are required as part of the application.
