QMC Central Sales Team Lead
QMC Metering Solutions supplies and integrates several meter technologies to effectively monitor the consumption of electricity, water, gas and thermal energy consumption of commercial and residential properties. We have offices in Coquitlam, Calgary, and Toronto and have a support and distribution network across the country including Edmonton and Montreal.
The QMC Central Sales Team (CST) is essential to QMC's sales efforts as it is responsible for all electrical and mechanical estimating, technical reviews, drawings and submissions and various sales enablement functions. This team ensures that proposals, cost estimates, and technical scopes are accurate, consistent, compliant, and aligned with company standards.
The CST Lead manages the all individuals within the Central Sales Team and acts as the technical bridge between Sales, Engineering, Product, and Project Management teams. The role supports the sales organization by providing reliable pricing, system architecture guidance, risk identification, and constructability insight during the design and proposal phases. This position plays a key role in ensuring that sub-metering solutions—including electrical, water, gas, thermal (BTU), and AMR/AMI systems—are correctly designed, scoped, and priced to meet client requirements, regulatory obligations, and long-term operational performance. The CST lead reports directly to the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Below are some of the requirements and responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities
- Bid & Estimate Management: Review RFPs/RFQs, assign tasks, validate scope and pricing assumptions.
- Costing & Pricing: Confirm material and subcontractor pricing; apply overhead, margins, and contingencies.
- Technical Review & Compliance: Ensure designs meet codes, client requirements, and long-term performance.
- Team Leadership: Manage CST workload, provide technical guidance, review outputs, and ensure consistency.
- RFIs & Clarifications: Submit and track RFIs; incorporate addenda into estimates.
- Risk & Opportunity Management: Identify and quantify risks; document assumptions and exclusions.
- Proposal Support: Approve technical and pricing summaries; ensure compliance with submission standards.
- Post-Bid Activities: Support negotiations, scope alignment, and handover to Project Management.
- Data & Process Improvement: Maintain cost databases; improve templates, tools, and CRM workflows.
- Communication & Reporting: Provide status updates, workload reports, and participate in leadership meetings.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in estimating, technical review, or sales support within electrical/mechanical systems.
- 2+ years in leadership or team management roles.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of sub-metering systems (electrical, water, gas, thermal).
- Familiarity with AMR/AMI communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, M-Bus).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
Other Skills:
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with CRM tools (Salesforce preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or eligibility.
- Experience with energy management systems.
- Knowledge of Measurement Canada and ESA compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with cost estimation software and advanced Excel skills.
- Background in process improvement and data analytics.
