FAMILY OUTREACH WORKER (FOW)

Assumption Junior Senior High School | Cold Lake, Alberta
Lakeland Catholic School Division is seeking a part-time Family Outreach Worker (FOW) to support Assumption Junior Senior High School in Cold Lake, Alberta.
Serving students in Grades 7 to 12, this position requires a compassionate, student-centred professional who is committed to supporting student well-being, strengthening family–school connections, and addressing barriers to learning. The Family Outreach Worker works collaboratively with school staff, families, and community partners to promote positive outcomes for students within a Catholic educational setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct support to students and families to promote attendance, engagement, and overall well-being
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and community partners
- Support students with social-emotional regulation, coping strategies, and problem-solving skills
- Assist families in accessing community resources and external support services
- Collaborate with school administration, teachers, and student support teams
- Participate in meetings, case planning, and coordinated support efforts
- Maintain appropriate documentation and confidentiality in accordance with division expectations
- Support student behaviour expectations, safety, and respectful conduct
- Contribute to the effective operation and positive image of the school and the division
- Assist with school-based initiatives, meetings, and events as required
- Uphold and support the mission and values of Catholic education
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or degree in Social Work, Human Services, Child and Youth Care, or a related field
- Experience working with children, youth, and families in a school or community-based setting preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to student well-being and inclusive support practices
- Alignment with the mission and values of Catholic education
ADDITIONAL ASSETS
- Master of Social Work or related graduate degree
- Knowledge of community-based services and referral processes
- Experience supporting students with social, emotional, or behavioural needs
- Ability to build trust with students and families
- French language skills are considered an asset but are not required
