Cooking Teacher for Adult students with Special Needs

Overview

We are seeking a patient and dedicated COOKING TEACHER to work with adult students with special needs. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with individuals with varying levels of ability and will have experience providing repeated instruction as needed.

Qualifications

  • a diploma in culinary and/or teaching background with a keen interest and experience in culinary field
  • Experience working with adults with special needs preferred
  • Comfortable with repeating instructions and adapting lessons for varying abilities
  • Communication in English and French
  • Patient, compassionate and enthusiastic in teaching essential life skills

Hours- 3 days per week, 9 :00 a.m. to 2 :00 p.m. (1-hour unpaid lunch from 12 :00 to 1 :00 p.m.)

Responsibilities:

  • Teach students kitchen safety, food preparation, and hygiene practices
  • Instruct students on meal planning, portion control, and reading recipes
  • Demonstrate proper use of kitchen tools and equipment
  • Teach cooking techniques such as chopping, mixing, baking, boiling, etc.
  • Guide students on proper storage of ingredients and leftovers
  • Teach cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and workspace
  • Provide step-by-step guidance in cooking tasks, adapting instruction to meet individual student needs: visuals and verbal
  • Foster independence while ensuring safety in all kitchen activities
  • Conduct lessons in both English and French
  • Encourage teamwork, patience, and responsibility in a kitchen environment
