The Township of Georgian Bay is a growing water-based community located in the District of Muskoka along the eastern shore of beautiful Georgian Bay. We are home to a multitude of inland lakes, serve as a gateway to the world-famous 30,000 Islands, and provide access to Georgian Bay Islands National Park. Steeped in history, our cultural roots are an important part of our community.

The Township has a permanent resident population of approximately 3,500 and an additional seasonal population of around 17,500. The municipal office is located in Port Severn, a short commute from Barrie, Midland, Orillia, Parry Sound, and surrounding areas.

Overview: We are seeking a By-Law Enforcement Officer (Summer Student) to join our team for the 2026 summer season. This position offers hands-on experience in municipal law enforcement and community engagement. This position will work closely with staff to ensure compliance with Township by-laws, while providing exceptional service to residents and visitors. This position requires travel throughout the Township, including the communities of Port Severn, Honey Harbour, and MacTier as well as travel by boat to water access only properties.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Investigate and resolve complaints related to municipal by-laws.
  • Conduct inspections and enforcement compliance.
  • Prepare accurate documentation and reports related to enforcement activities.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain confidentiality of all information.

Knowledge/experience:

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in Police Studies, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
  • Valid Ontario Class G Drivers Licence.
  • Boater Operator Card and ability to operate a vessel safely.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • Previous municipal enforcement experience is considered an asset.
  • Must have good public relations and communication skills.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and traveling by boat, as needed.

Wage rate: $19.60 per hour based on 70-hours of work over a two-week period. This includes a rotational schedule and weekend coverage from May 4th to September 7th, 2026.
