Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen staff by ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about food and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Assist chefs and cooks with food preparation, including chopping vegetables, measuring ingredients, and assembling dishes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
  • Help with inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying supervisors of shortages or expired items.
  • Follow food safety guidelines and health regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Support the team during service by delivering food to designated areas and assisting with plating as needed.
  • Participate in daily kitchen operations, including setting up workstations and cleaning up after service.

Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Food Handlers Certificate required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and banquet hall personnel.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
  • Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food frequently weighing up to 20 to 25 pounds.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $17.20 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
