Brewer Assistant

Brewers Blackbird in Ancaster is looking for part time help transitioning to full time. Brewers Blackbird is an award winning brewery located in the heart of Ancaster. Our modern, custom designed glassed-in brewery has been integrated into an historic stone building and we house a full service restaurant with a large patio; it’s a unique mix of the old and new and a fantastic environment for creating beer of consistently high quality.

You will report to the BrewMaster and be responsible for monitoring and carrying out Brewhouse and cellar operations; including but not limited to:

- Wort production on the automated brewhouse
- Raw ingredient handling
- Cellaring tasks (CIP, tank transfers, sampling for daily checks/QC)
- Brewery Cleaning
- Keg Cleaning and Management
- Packaging (Kegs and Cans)
- Yeast management and monitoring

CHARACTERISTICS WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

- Conscientious. Very detail and quality oriented
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and problem solve efficiently and independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiar and comfortable with automation (solenoids, sensors, PLCs, HMIs)
- Knowledge of materials and equipment used within the small beer production facility
- Exhibits a positive attitude and is presentable and neat in appearance
- Ability to perform maintenance on equipment (with direction as required)
- Strict adherence to our health and safety policies and SOPs
- Driven to look for and implement process improvements
- A self-starter with a true passion for making beer of high and consistent quality

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lifting full kegs onto pallets
- Ability to lift 25kgs to waist level

**Salary**: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
