Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced
Mainframe CICS Engineer
to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of
CICS engineering
, including system maintenance, software upgrades, and operational support within a
24x7 large-scale Sysplex and CICSPlex environment
. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, along with deep technical expertise in
CICS performance tuning, debugging, and dump analysis
. The position also involves occasional on-call support and maintenance outside of standard working hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all phases of
    CICS engineering
    , system maintenance, and software lifecycle support.
  • Work closely with application development and operations teams to ensure stable and optimized system performance.
  • Perform
    performance tuning, problem determination, and dump analysis
    for CICS environments.
  • Implement and maintain
    CICSPlex SM
    features such as dynamic transaction routing and system customization.
  • Monitor system performance using
    CICS SMF records
    and
    CICS Performance Analyzer
    tools.
  • Utilize
    SMP/E
    for software upgrades and maintenance.
  • Manage
    CICS resource definitions
    and ensure optimal configuration for performance.
  • Support
    WebSphere MQ
    integrations and provide assistance to COBOL developers.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for production support and system maintenance.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of
    SMP/E
    , software upgrades, and maintenance processes.
  • Deep understanding of
    CICSPlex SM
    , performance parameters, and tuning in large-scale environments.
  • Hands-on experience with
    Sysview for CICS
    or similar monitoring tools.
  • Proficiency in
    COBOL
    for supporting application development.
  • Familiarity with
    Mainframe WebSphere MQ
    .
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with
    Assembler
    ,
    COBOL
    , and
    REXX
    programming.
  • Background in
    CICS TS V5.x and/or V6.x
    environments with web application support.
  • Working knowledge of
    z/OS
    facilities such as APF, Linklist, VSAM, LPA, RLS, and Coupling Facility.
  • Experience with
    CICS Configuration Manager
    and
    z/OS & CICS Explorer
    .
  • Understanding of
    CICS REST Services
    .
  • Prior experience in
    application programming
    is a plus.
