REGIONAL OPERATIONS MANAGER (ROM)
Job Description
Role Purpose
The Regional Operations Manager (ROM) owns all field operational outcomes within an assigned geographic area. For Alberta, this is typically defined as North, Central, or South regions. Integrity Pole Inspections intends to establish three Regional Operations Manager positions, aligned with Alberta North, Central, and South.
As business needs require, the ROM may also support or temporarily oversee operations in other provinces or territories (e.g., British Columbia or Yukon), particularly for seasonal or project-based work.
The ROM operates their assigned area as a self-contained business unit, accountable for production, quality, safety, fleet readiness, client delivery, and field leadership.
Reporting Structure
- Reports To: Director of Operations
- Direct Reports: Crew Leads, regional deputies or support roles as assigned
- Functional Collaboration: Centralized Field Operations Lead (CFOL), other ROMs, Director of Operations
Core Accountabilities
1. Production & Operational Execution
- Own delivery of all field work within the assigned region(s)
- Approve and adjust schedules based on production priorities, weather, access, and crew readiness
- Balance crews geographically to minimize travel inefficiencies
- Coordinate with other ROMs and the CFOL when crews are shared across regions or provinces
- Maintain operational continuity during periods of uneven demand or seasonal fluctuation
2. Client Delivery & Contract Execution
- Ensure field execution meets the scope, standards, and service expectations of contracted clients
- Act as the primary field delivery owner for clients within the assigned region(s), including but not limited to:
Alberta
Yukon
British Columbia
- Coordinate with the Director of Operations on client priorities, reporting requirements, and escalations
- Support onboarding and execution for new or expanded client contracts
Client assignments may shift based on contract scope, workload, geography, and seasonality.
3. Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Own all quality and safety outcomes within the region(s)
- Ensure inspections comply with company SOPs, regulatory requirements, and client-specific standards
- Oversee quality audit cadence and corrective actions
- Enforce safety standards and exercise stop-work authority when required
- Ensure field training, certifications, and competency requirements are met
4. Fleet, Equipment & Materials
- Ensure trucks, tools, and equipment are inspected, maintained, and ready for work
- Prevent production delays caused by fleet or material shortages
- Coordinate with the Director of Operations for capital requests, major maintenance issues, or fleet reallocations
5. People Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop Crew Leads
- Ensure clear expectations, discipline, and accountability in the field
- Identify and develop future field leaders
- Own field onboarding, mentorship, and performance management
- Maintain strong leadership credibility with inspectors and crew leads
6. Deputization & Support Authority
- May formally deputize support roles, including the Centralized Field Operations Lead (CFOL), to provide temporary assistance with defined operational or quality audit needs
- Deputization must be:
- ROM-initiated
- explicit
- time-bound
- limited in scope
- The ROM retains full ownership and accountability for outcomes during any deputization period
7. Ownership & Escalation
- Make daily operational decisions independently within defined company guardrails
- Escalate only when:
- policy interpretation or changes are required
- capital expenditure approval is needed
- significant client, safety, or reputational risk exists
- Maintain clear communication with HQ without relinquishing local authority
Geographic Scope & Flexibility
- Primary responsibility is assigned region(s): Alberta North, Central, or South
- May temporarily support:
- Operations in British Columbia
- Operations in Yukon
- Operations in new markets
- Geographic boundaries are functional, not rigid, and may adjust based on workload, seasonality, or client demand
- ROMs are expected to collaborate across regions to support surge capacity and continuity
Explicit Role Boundaries (Non-Negotiable)
The ROM does not:
- Perform daily scheduling or dispatch (except in emergencies)
- Micromanage individual inspectors
- Delegate accountability when delegating tasks
Ownership cannot be delegated.

- Consistent production delivery across assigned clients and regions
- High audit pass rates with low rework
- Strong safety performance
- Stable, well-led crews
- Effective execution of multiple contracts
- Minimal ownership intervention
Summary
The Regional Operations Manager is the single point of ownership for field operations within their assigned geography. Integrity Pole Inspections is building a regional leadership model to support Alberta-wide operations, with flexibility to support seasonal work in Yukon and project-based work in British Columbia. ROMs are expected to lead with judgment, accountability, and adaptability in a dynamic, field-driven environment.
