Salary: In accordance with the current collective agreement between The Public Alliance of Canada Union and Treasury Board.
Description: The School Food Coordinator will be responsible for school food initiatives, reports directly to the Director of Finance and Administration and District Community Engagement Coordinator and serves as the primary liaison with the Provincial School Food Program Leads.
Key accountabilities include:
- Supporting individual schools to ensure the successful implementation and operation of breakfast, lunch, and other food programs.
- Collaborating with community partners, suppliers, and food service providers to strengthen program delivery.
- Managing the rollout of the new School Lunch Program, including assessing and responding to school-level needs.
- Ensuring consistent communication, tracking, and reporting between schools, districts, and provincial leadership.
This position is central to advancing the province's commitment to providing nutritious, accessible meals for all students and to building strong partnerships that sustain school food programming.
Work at this level requires knowledge normally gained through the equivalent of a University Degree in a non-technical area, supplemented by a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience. Work is done within well-defined, somewhat diversified procedures; with many precedents covering most situations and/or readily available assistance. The complexity at this level implies that this position could be confronted with a number of different situations, each having several different solutions. At this level the job holder would have the latitude to resolve problems by determining which procedure to use. Work is subject to standardized practices and procedures.
Qualifications: You must demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills as well as be able to multi-task. You must have a thorough working knowledge of the schools and the local communities. Hours of work must be flexible, responding to the needs of the school and community. A background in Community or Partnership Development, Communications, Social Work and/or Education will be considered a strong asset and a thorough working knowledge of local businesses and community resources would be preferred. Priority will be given to employees in the Bargaining Unit who work for the Anglophone East School District.

If there are no union applicants, the position will be filled from qualified applicants for these competitions. Staffing for this position will comply with the terms of the collective agreement. Should a breach in process be brought to our attention following the appointment, it will be reviewed in conjunction with the union. If it is found that the original appointment made was in breach of the collective agreement, the employer shall rescind the employment offer.
