Analytics - Manager, Actuarial Services

The Manager, Actuarial, is to lead rate reviews and filings across all lines of business using actuarial and data analytics techniques. This role supports strategic underwriting decisions by identifying performance trends and collaborating with internal teams. It also involves extracting and analyzing data from Guidewire systems to inform pricing and business strategy.
What you'll do...
Coordinate and perform rate reviews on all lines of business, as prioritized by the company. This includes but is not limited to creating rate indications, loss ratio analysis, competitive analysis, completing filings, calculating impacts, while using actuarial ratemaking principles, data analytics, GLMs or other advanced statistical techniques.
Using data analytics, develop and re-evaluate underwriting appetite by identifying trends in company performance. Share and work with other company stakeholders with ensuing actions.
Coordinate and perform regular rate filings with provincial regulators.
Work with Leadership, Underwriting and IT teams on rate reviews and other strategic actions.
Understand and effectively utilize Heartland's Guidewire systems and their underlying data structures.
Conduct data extraction as necessary.
Conduct data exploration, such as quote data, billing data, and new experience extractions.
What you'll bring...
University degree (Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial) is preferred or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive, relevant pricing experience.
FCAS designation or near completion
A thorough understanding of P&C pricing and ratemaking concepts.
Demonstrated strength in oral, written and presentation communication skills.
Prior management experience is preferred.
A working knowledge of Emblem would be an asset.
The salary range for this role is $102,000 - $153,000. The salary for the successful candidate will be determined by various factors including but not limited to an individual's relevant experience, knowledge, skills, along with internal equity, and market considerations.
