Manufacturing Supervisor

Essential Functions
Leadership & Production Oversight
- Lead, coach, and supervise production and welding / fabrication team to meet manufacturing goals.
- Assign daily work, monitor workflow, and adjust manpower as needed to meet deadlines.
- Communicate production priorities clearly and effectively.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, safety rules, and quality standards.
- Communicate with your team the objectives, safety reminders, and workload.
- Support employee development through cross-training and ongoing performance feedback.
Technical Support
- Provide hands-on guidance in production and welding / fabrication operations (TIG).
- Ensure all manufacturing process accuracy meet specifications.
- Interpret and verify technical drawings, work orders, and material requirements.
- Support setup, tooling changes, and optimization of manufacturing processes.
Troubleshooting & Equipment Support
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and welding machines, part-quality issues, and production problems.
- Work collaboratively with maintenance and engineering to diagnose mechanical issues, reduce downtime, and drive corrective actions.
- Escalate equipment concerns requiring repair or service.
- Monitor equipment performance and promote preventive maintenance.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and company policies.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safe machine operation.
- Conduct safety talks, inspections, and incident reporting.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
Quality Assurance
- Monitor product quality and ensure adherence to specifications and customer expectations.
- Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions for defects or rework.
- Collaborate with the Quality team on inspections and process controls.
Reporting & Communication
- Update production reports, downtime logs, and shift summaries in the ERP system.
- Communicate achievements, issues and delays to the Director of Operations, as they come up.
- Work closely with planning, engineering, and quality teams to support production flow.
Process Documentation & Succession Planning
- Ensure all welding and production processes, workflows, and SOPs are accurately documented and regularly updated.
- Maintain clear records to support knowledge transfer, training, and continuity of operations in case of role changes or promotions.
- Collaborate with management to identify critical processes and create documentation that supports succession planning.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing and welding equipment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.
- Computer proficiency (ERP experience preferred).
- High attention to detail in safety, quality, and documentation.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Completion of a College Diploma or Technical Certification in Welding, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Manufacturing, or related field (preferred).
- Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum 6+ years of hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication and welding.
- Minimum 4+ years supervisory or lead-hand experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience with TIG welding, manufacturing machinery, and sheet metal finishing.
- Experience with stainless steel, aluminum and carbon steel metal fabrication.
