Assembly Supervisor

We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Assembly Supervisor responsible for day-to-day assembly execution, team leadership, and output consistency. You ensure that every Smith Blade is assembled correctly, efficiently, and safely, and that assembly keeps pace with machining and shipping commitments. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will spend most of your time on the floor, setting priorities, solving problems, and holding standards.
Hours: 10am-6pm. This role overlaps both assembly shifts, providing leadership continuity, shift handoff support, and consistent quality standards across the day with each team.
Core Responsibilities- Assembly Execution
- Lead a team of 10-20 assemblers
- Run daily Smith Blade assembly operations
- Assign labor to meet hourly, daily, and weekly production targets
- Balance assembly lines to maintain takt time
- Ensure materials, sub-assemblies, and tools are ready at the start of each shift
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe workstations
- Quality & Process Discipline
- Enforce standard work and assembly procedures
- Catch defects early and prevent quality escapes
- Coordinate closely with Quality Control on inspections and rework
- Escalate recurring issues and participate in root-cause investigations
- Ensure traceability and proper handling of serialized components
- Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop assembly technicians
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training
- Set expectations and hold team members accountable
- Manage attendance, shift coverage, and performance issues
- Build a culture of ownership, consistency, and respect for quality
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in assembly flow
- Work with Process Engineering to implement improvements
- Support layout changes, tooling updates, and work instruction revisions
- Help scale assembly capacity without impacting quality
- Assembly targets are consistently met or exceeded
- Quality issues are caught early, not at final inspection
- The team is trained, engaged, and accountable
- Production commitments are met without constant firefighting
- Experience supervising hands-on assembly teams in a manufacturing environment
- Strong people leadership and communication skills
- High attention to detail and process discipline
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
- Willingness to be on the floor, not behind a desk

You must be legally allowed to work in Canada and be local or willing to relocate. This role is based in Cambridge, Ontario and telecommuting is not an option.
Salary Range: $60-75k plus benefits.
