Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi preparation, and will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards. This position requires a keen eye for detail, creativity in menu planning, and a commitment to food safety and hygiene.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, with precision and artistry.
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh and of the highest quality by sourcing from reputable suppliers.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations at all times.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to develop new menu items and enhance existing offerings based on seasonal ingredients.
  • Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to the kitchen manager.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food handling practices.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with guests about menu items and accommodating dietary preferences or restrictions.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry is essential.
  • Fine dining experience is highly preferred, along with a strong understanding of culinary techniques related to Japanese cuisine.
  • Demonstrated expertise in knife skills, food preparation, cooking methods, and meal preparation is required.
  • Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is a plus, particularly for those familiar with menu planning for specific dietary needs.
  • A background in catering or food service will be beneficial to enhance our offerings during special events or large gatherings.
