Visiting Suites Supervisor

The Visiting Suites Supervisor is responsible for supervising visits and providing a safe, secure environment, physically and emotionally, for children in alternate care. The Visiting Suites Supervisor is responsible of the monitoring and recording of visits between children and their natural parent(s) in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
· To supervise visits of non-custodial parents with their child(ren), this includes monitoring and, if necessary, intervening with the parent or child who demonstrated inappropriate physical or verbal behaviors.
· To report as soon as possible any problems or concerns regarding a specific client, social worker, or visitation to the Project Coordinator and/or Executive Director/Director(s).
· To work with the Project Coordinator, social worker, and any other collaborating agencies as a team member to best meet the needs of the client.
· To treat clients with respect and dignity.
· To perform only those supervised visitation requests authorized by the Project Coordinator, at the request of the social worker, to fulfill the case plan for that individual/family.
· To adhere to agreed upon visitation schedules.
· Periodic visits are to be checked on every 15 minutes
· Constant visits are to be fully supervised; you are not allowed to leave the visit unattended.
· If social workers ask for changes or new requests, they should be referred back to the Project Coordinator.
· Requests from clients must be referred back to their social worker.
· To abide by the Ministry of Social Services and CUMFI Rules of Confidentiality.
· To record time and interactions of each client visit using visitation form and submit forms in a timely manner so that social workers can be kept up to date.
· To inform the Project Coordinator of vacations, illness etc. that would necessitate a substitute supervisor, with as much advance notice as possible.
· To respect the Visiting Suites rules regarding visitation procedures.
· Other duties as assigned.

Must be willing to participate in the ongoing change process required of a member-driven organization that values the community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field of study and/or a suitable combination of training and extensive experience in working with individuals involved with the Ministry of Social Services.
· Ability to speak a First Nations or Métis language is an asset.
· Knowledge and understanding of the history of Aboriginal peoples and their socio-economic backgrounds.
· An understanding of the barriers to healthy living, that can contribute to a higher risk for child abuse and neglect.
· An understanding of child development and age-appropriate developmental needs of children.
· Must possess an understanding of positive and culturally appropriate approaches to parenting.
· Must be comfortable working with families from the core neighborhoods of Saskatoon.
· Willing and available to work non-traditional hours such as evenings and weekends.
· Criminal and vulnerable persons record check.
Must have a working knowledge of windows-based computer software programs.
