Deliverables:

  • Monitoring, maintaining, and supporting mainframe batch processing 24/7/365.
  • Plan, monitor, and control the schedule for production batch and online processing to ensure availability for client ministry mission-critical systems.
  • coordinate ongoing automated scheduling activities, anticipating and correcting complex scheduling incidents and problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to end monitoring of mainframe scheduling and batch processing systems 24/7/365 to ensure availability as per defined SLAs, by taking prompt and necessary actions or escalating to technical support as needed. These services include critical, essential, time-sensitive, public-facing applications, websites, systems, and subsystems hosted in OPS Guelph data centres.
  • Responsible for analysis, investigation, and resolution of production batch processing failures.
  • Escalation of batch processing incidents to technical support teams, clients, and management.
  • Providing operational system updates, upgrades, and patches, and addressing issues encountered during these tasks.
  • Implementing batch and online system change requests.
  • Ensuring service level commitments to ITS clients, stakeholders, and broader public sector agencies are met.
  • Participating in the development and delivery of related training, communications, and procedural documents.
  • Planning and participating in semi-annual disaster/contingency recovery exercises, including running and testing recovery procedures and plans for all application systems.
  • Providing specialized automated scheduling expertise, and advising peers and clients regarding batch processing scheduling options.
  • Modifying automated scheduling tools to meet client needs and improve operational efficiency.
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance on production batch processing standards and the use of automated scheduling tools.
  • Offering technical expertise in job optimization, problem analysis, and the use of processing utilities.
  • Planning, leading, and performing development, testing, and implementation of new automated schedules for client and in-house applications within established timeframes.
  • Coordinating the collection of data for statistical analysis of production performance results, used to assess workload and production scheduling.

This position is listed as "Onsite"; the resource is expected to work between the standard working shift (excluding lunch breaks) every week inclusive at the identified OPS office location.
