Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Control (QC) Technician to join our growing production team in Mississauga, ON. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring our products consistently meet internal quality standards, food safety requirements, and customer expectations. This is a full-time, on-site position offering competitive pay, hands-on learning, and opportunities for growth within our quality and production departments.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, attentive to detail, and committed to maintaining the highest quality standards. You'll perform routine checks throughout production, record and analyze data, identify and escalate non-conformances, and support continuous improvement initiatives that keep our operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities:
- Verify Critical Control Points (CCPs) and prerequisite programs such as metal detection, allergen controls, and sanitation checks.
- Perform inspections on incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods, checking for weight, dimensions, appearance, temperature, and packaging integrity.
- Accurately collect and record quality data, ensuring full traceability and proper lot identification.
- Place nonconforming products on hold when needed, document deviations, and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Conduct regular environmental and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) audits, document findings, and work with supervisors and operators to address issues promptly.
- Verify equipment calibrations and perform basic QC equipment checks (e.g., scales, thermometers, and metal detectors), reporting any out-of-spec results.
- Support line start-ups and changeovers by verifying labels, line clearance, and packaging/date/lot code accuracy.
- Participate in internal, customer, and third-party audits, helping prepare records and supporting audit activities.
- Assist in training production staff on quality standards, GMP compliance, and documentation best practices.
- Take immediate action to escalate food safety or quality risks — including stopping the line when necessary to protect product integrity and consumer safety.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a food manufacturing, quality, or production environment.
- Demonstrates a strong food safety mindset and confidence to identify, escalate, and act on quality issues promptly.
- High school diploma or post-secondary education in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when completing documentation under time-sensitive conditions.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and communicate clearly with team members (Quality, Production, Sanitation, and Maintenance ), supervisors, and cross-functional departments.
- Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP principles, and allergen control programs.
- Proficient in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and digital quality record systems.
- Excellent communication, organization, and record-keeping skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
