Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Procures supplies, products, and services for the company.
  • Ensures the best agreement in terms of price, lead time and quality.
  • Manage relationship with suppliers, resolving quality and invoicing issues in a time manner.
  • Minimize spend, maximize gross margin, while exceeding both internal and external customer expectations.

Reports to: Supply Chain Manager

Primary work location: Cambridge, Ontario

Travel requirement: limited travel

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Negotiates with vendors to secure products and services for the company. Both inventory and MRO items
  • Work with the company's financial services department to verify payments and to confirm delivery of goods and completion of services.
  • Ensures smooth process flow within the company, which includes service to internal customers from other departments.
  • Seek cost reduction in all goods and services to improve the profit margin and bottom line of the corporation.
  • Work with all PLP subsidiaries to ensure internal purchases are maximized to the benefit of the corporation.
  • Manage purchased part inventory levels to a reasonable amount to meet production and sales requirements including safety stock levels and min/max purchases.
  • Ensure timely performance of suppliers, follow up on unsatisfactory performance and seek alternate sources of supply if necessary.
  • Determine transportation methods for incoming freight and manage delivery to our dock.
  • Review and determine shipment documentation such as: Commercial Invoice / Customs invoice, pack lists, Ocean/Air/Other BOL, CUSMA / Certificate of Origin, ASN, ISF Filing and Bonds.
  • Review and determine burden rates.
  • Maintain the ERP data system integrity in regard to pricing, lead time and P.O. maintenance.
  • Expedite material when required.
  • Make verses buy analysis.

Experience / Education / Skillset:

  • Post-secondary education in Operations, Inventory or Purchasing Management.
  • 1 year purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • ERP system experience within a supply chain environment.
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends.

Work schedule:

  • Full Time, permanent position
  • Work schedule, 40 hours a week.
