STLLR Gold is a dynamic mineral exploration company focused on discovery and developing the Tower Gold Project and Hollinger Tailings Project in the Timmins area. We are currently seeking a motivated and skilled Geotechnician to join our exploration team. The successful candidate will support core processing, field programs, and contribute to the successful execution of our ongoing exploration projects.
The position will report to the Exploration Manager and will support a collaborative and multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will have strong background in exploration programs, field operations, core processing and a focus on safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety & Collaboration
o Participate in health and safety initiatives, daily and monthly meetings and required reporting.
o Ensure all health and safety protocols are followed at all times.
o Work safely in different locations, under varying weather and terrain conditions.
o Collaborate with the STLLR team and contractors to ensure that the programs and project are properly planned, executed and documented in order to be on time and on budget.
- Core Shack and Field
o Intake and processing of drill core and field samples. This includes but is not limited to moving core and samples, marking and measuring drill core, labeling, orientation, measuring recovery/ RQD, recording magnetic susceptibility taking bulk density measurements, and sampling.
o Data input and maintain active data management.
o Core cutting and accurate collection of samples.
o Follow and maintain required QA/QC procedures to best industry practices.
o Collect samples for third party pulp checks, as well as maintain core, pulp and reject inventories.
o Field work is not a common part of daily activities but may be required for time to time. This includes but is not limited to GPS work, flagging access, supervising contractors, spotting drillholes, drill site inspections, site closure, remediation and assisting geologists with sampling (rock, soil, till, etc.).
o Maintain and organize field equipment and supplies.
o Onsite coordination with vendors to ensure deliverables are on time and within budget.
o Other duties may be assigned as required.
Prerequisites
- Education, Training & Experience
o A diploma in geotechnical studies or comparable, or sufficient relevant work experience.
o Minimum of 2 years' experience in mineral exploration with at least 1 year working in a core shack.
o A valid Ontario G driver's licence with a clean driving record.
o Physically fit and able to lift 50lbs.
o Proficient with Microsoft Office including word and excel.
o First Aid, WHMIS, and other relevant safety certifications (preferred).
