Location is flexible, within Alberta, dependent on the successful applicant.

However, periodically may be asked to work in other AFSC branches. Travel in these circumstances will be reimbursed according to AFSC's Employee and Board of Directors Expense Policy.

Summary of the Role

The Leader, Digital Software Development provides strategic and people leadership for the development, enhancement, and sustainment of AFSC's enterprise digital platforms, including Salesforce, nCino, and critical legacy systems. This role ensures the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-quality software solutions that support exceptional client experiences and advance AFSC's Next Horizon Digital Strategy.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Lead and oversee the full software development lifecycle for AFSC's digital platforms, ensuring timely, secure, and high-quality delivery
  • Provide leadership to cross-functional development teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Champion agile delivery, DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and modern engineering standards
  • Drive modernization and sustainment of both cloud-based and legacy applications aligned with enterprise architecture and governance standards
  • Partner with Product Managers, Architecture, Infrastructure, and Data teams to deliver prioritized business and client outcomes
  • Manage vendor relationships, external resources, and operating budgets to ensure value, quality, and fiscal accountability

What are we looking for from you?

  • Proven experience leading software development or application teams in an agile delivery environment
  • Strong knowledge of modern software development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience working with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, nCino, or comparable SaaS/PaaS solutions
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop technical professionals while supporting workforce planning and succession
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder-management skills across technical and business teams
  • Experience managing vendors, contracts, and technology partners in a regulated or complex environment

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • ITIL Foundations Certification (ITIL Expert or advanced certification considered an asset)
  • Salesforce certifications or relevant cloud platform credentials are considered an asset
