Job Overview

We are hiring an experienced Directional Driller / Plow Operator to join our underground construction team. The operator will be responsible for setting up and operating HDD drills and/or vibratory plows for fiber-optic and utility installation. Ideal candidates have experience with telecom builds, civil construction, and working safely in busy environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate directional drilling rigs and/or vibratory plows to install fiber, conduit, and utilities
  • Read and interpret job plans, locates, profiles, and construction drawings
  • Set up drill/pit, mix mud, operate locator, track drill head path, and complete pullbacks
  • Operate excavator and skid steer for trenching, backfill, and site restoration
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, maintenance checks, fluid levels, and safety logs
  • Work with labor crew on drill rods, pipe handling, pulling fiber, placing vaults and pedestals
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized worksite
  • Follow all safety rules, Book 7 traffic control standards, and company procedures
  • Load/unload equipment and travel to various job sites as needed
  • Complete field paperwork, bore logs, and material records

Assets (Nice to Have)

  • AZ/DZ or Class A License
  • Mini-ex or Skid steer experience
  • Experience installing vaults, pedestals, handholes
