We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our client's team, located in Langley, BC This is a key role responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records.
The position is a Permanent, Part-Time role, requiring 24 hours per week (equivalent to 3 days per week). The work is in-person at the office in Langley.
Role Overview
The Senior Accountant role combines strong technical accounting knowledge with essential operational duties, including the end-to-end processing of payroll. We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive professional capable of managing multiple priorities and contributing to timely, accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
You will be integral to the operations team, focusing on the following critical areas:
- Full-Cycle Accounting & GL Management: Carry out the full-cycle accounting process, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions. Administer regular collections and process Accounts Payable.
- Payroll Processing & Compliance: Execute bi-weekly payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, deductions, and taxes. Perform payroll submissions, filings, and compliance with all tax regulations.
- Month-End Procedures & Reporting: Execute all necessary month-end close procedures and prepare detailed supporting schedules. Analyze monthly financial results, investigate variances, and provide insightful commentary to management.
- Financial Reconciliation & Analysis: Perform timely and accurate reconciliations of all bank accounts, credit card statements, and key General Ledger accounts.
- Production & Operational Support: Serve as a finance resource for the Production team, assisting with analyzing production costs, labor reporting, inventory reconciliation , and assisting with regular physical inventory checks.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated experience managing a company's full-cycle accounting and payroll function. Proven experience in inventory management and accounting, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
- CPA candidate or CPA designation preferred.
- Experience in distribution and/or re-manufacturing
- Education: Associate's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of accounting software and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles (IFRS) and payroll tax regulations.
Compensation & Work Environment
- Wage: $35 - $40 / hour.
- Work Location: In-person, Langley. Occasional visits to the warehouse and production areas may be required.
- The role may involve some physical activity, such as lifting and moving inventory items.
