Role Description:

The Financial Analyst (Cost & Compliance) plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and operational margin analysis. This position will support, both the head office in Italy, with reporting requirements and operational finance functions by providing analytical insights into material usage, labour efficiency, transportation costs, and other variable cost drivers impacting profitability. The role also assists in month-end close processes across accounting areas to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial results.

Reports to: Director of Finance

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance and Reporting Support (≈ 45%)

  • Prepare and maintain reporting packages for the head office, including GL mapping, board and bond reporting, and other compliance-related submissions.
  • Ensure adherence to internal and external reporting standards and financial regulations.
  • Support the Director of Finance in audit preparation, documentation, and policy compliance initiatives.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of financial reporting processes and controls.

Margin and Cost Analysis (≈ 45%)

  • Perform detailed margin analysis across product categories and customer channels.
  • Analyze material usage and waste, labour efficiency, and transportation costs to identify cost variances and operational inefficiencies.
  • Investigate and interpret variances between actual results and the company's costing model to determine root causes.
  • Conduct short- and long-term margin analysis for inter-company transactions to ensure proper profitability and alignment with transfer pricing principles.
  • Prepare in-depth, data-driven analyses and detailed financial models to support management's strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Develop dashboards and reports to support data-driven decision-making across finance and operations.

Month-End Support (≈ 10%)

  • Assist with month-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules for AP, AR, cash/bank, fixed assets, and inventory.
  • Collaborate with accounting and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely close.
  • Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.

Knowledge & Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • CPA designation (or in progress) preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in Accounting or Financial analysis, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of cost accounting and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g. Business Central, MS NAV, or equivalent) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and problem solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work cross-functionally with operations and management teams.
