Senior Advisor, External Communications

Overview
As part of our global external communications centre of expertise, you will be reporting to the Director, External Communications based in Canada. Your rigour and versatility will be highlighted in the writing of communications tools in both English and French to leverage traditional and digital channels. Your strategic thinking will contribute to the development and deployment of external communications strategies, including proactive and reactive media relations to promote AtkinsRéalis Group achievements. With your issues management experience, you will advise business units so that they can carry out their projects and mitigate reputation risks. You enjoy working with partners in the private and public sectors across Canada to develop impactful and strategic sponsorships that support brand awareness and the Company reputation. You will work with and support colleagues from around the world, develop your knowledge and skill while creating valuable relationships.

The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be comfortable dealing with a diverse range of internal stakeholders at all levels of seniority.

Your role

• Work collaboratively as part of a global team of external and internal communicators and marketeers working on both regional and global projects where required
• Draft, revise, edit and produce a variety of communication tools intended for various external audiences (e.g. briefs, key messages, press releases, social media posts, speeches and remarks, etc.)
• Identify opportunities to leverage AtkinsRéalis' various stakeholders in the media across Canada.
• Provide advice regarding positioning and speaking engagements, with a proactive and multichannel approach
• Ability to use corporate reporting mechanisms and contribute to regular reporting on functional as well as tactical performance (e.g. ASANA)
• Ensure that practices, procedures, methodologies and tools are used effectively so that the objectives set out in the business plan are attained.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, literature, marketing or related field
• At least 8 to 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in a large multi-national.
• Excellent writing skills in English and French
• Proven ability to convey complex topics in simple language to multiple audiences
• Proven ability to think in a multichannel approach
• Proven ability to work with the media and good understanding of the media landscape in Canada
• Experience managing sponsorships and donations at a national level
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Proven experience in issues management
• Proven ability to create strategic links between events
• Experience in advising on external communications best practices
• Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders
• High accuracy and attention to detail
• Two writing samples are required to be submitted with the application
• Adept at using AI tools like Co-Pilot in a corporate environment
• Member of the Canadian or Global Leadership Team: This position requires knowledge of a language other than French, namely English, as it involves collaboration with members of the Canadian or global leadership team located outside Québec.
