VYPER Program Coordinator

VYPER (Visionary Youth Peers for Equity & Revitalization) is an Indigenous youth-led initiative based in the Fraser Valley, BC. Since 2021, we've hosted more than 300 culture nights and created opportunities for over 50,000 people to reconnect with language, ceremony, and community.
Our mission: help Indigenous youth reclaim leadership, revitalize culture, and spark systems change.
We're looking for a Program Coordinator – a detail-driven, community-minded organizer who will carry the operational weight so our youth leaders can focus on mentorship and cultural work. This person ensures that our pow wows, cultural nights, and leadership programs run smoothly, on time, and in line with our values.
This position is employed by Matsqui-Abbotsford Impact Society, working closely with the VYPER governance team and youth leaders.
Hours & Pay: 37.5 hrs/week
• $25–30/hr
• Based in the Fraser Valley, BC
Work Schedule: Requires frequent in-person attendance, including days, evenings, and weekends as needed for events and gatherings
Benefits: Eligible after 3 months for a comprehensive, 100% employer-paid benefits package including health, dental, paid personal, and vacation time
Term: Funding-dependent contract to March 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension pending an in-progress funding request
· Scheduling & Coordination: Organize meetings, pow wow nights, youth cohorts, and partner communications
· Finance & Administration: Track budgets, issue honoraria, process invoices, and support reporting
· Partnerships & Reporting: Maintain agreements, gather documentation, and meet funder deadlines
· Logistics: Manage supplies, travel, and event setups for pow wows, land-based gatherings, and film projects
· Documentation: Take minutes, manage shared drives, and prepare draft reports and evaluations
· Support Youth Projects: Help youth facilitators schedule circles, book venues, and prepare materials
Who You Are
· Indigenous identity is a bona fide requirement for this position
· Holds a valid Class 5 driver's license and has reliable personal transportation with the ability to transport passengers
· Combination of relevant education and personal and professional experience will be evaluated
· Exceptionally organized and thrives on structure and clear systems
· Experienced in administration, coordination, or non-profit/youth-led projects (an asset)
· Grounded in Indigenous teachings and committed to cultural resurgence
· Respectful communicator who builds strong, trusting relationships
· Comfortable balancing Western reporting requirements with Indigenous cultural protocols
· A Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search are required. A history of a criminal record will be reviewed case by case and does not necessarily preclude employment
